Morobe mourns death

MOROBE Amateur Volleyball Association postponed all its pre-season games last week as a sign of respect to their former president, Laurie Marai, who passed away last Saturday.
MAVA president Sabila Bonio said that Marai died away in his sleep in the early hours of last Saturday morning, prompting the association to postpone all their games scheduled for that weekend.
"I had to call off all the pre-season games as a sign of respect to the former MAVA president and advised all the players and officials that our competition should resume next week in March 16-17," Bonio said.
"The late president had contributed a lot towards the development of the code during his terms as the president and I want to convey our sincere condolence on behalf of all the players and officials of MAVA to his family members and relatives on his untimely death," he said.
Bonio said the funeral arrangements were still being made and his body had been placed at Angau Memorial Hospital morgue awaiting the arrival of his relatives from Port Moresby before they will announce his funeral and the final resting place.
