AN expatriate Ramu Nickel mine engineer will stand trial next Monday in the National Court in Waigani, charged with possessing undeclared cash of K50,000 after being tracked down by Australian and Papua New Guinea (PNG) Customs officers, police said yesterday.

Jing Hui,32, from Beijing, China, was arrested by PNG Customs officers at the Jackson international airport in June last year and handed over to the Bank of PNG (BPNG) officers.
Mr Hui was then charged under the sect 7 of the BPNG foreign exchange/gold regulation of 2000 for not declaring cash above K10,000 with BPNG before taking it abroad.
The Australian Customs officers at the Cairns international airport in Queensland, after Mr Hui’s departure for Port Moresby on an Air Niugini flight, had tipped off their PNG counterparts that he was in possession of A$17,855 in cash after converting the undeclared K50,000 at the Australian Commonwealth Bank and American Express in Cairns.
Earlier, Mr Hui was caught by Customs officers in Cairns with the undeclared K50,000 after he slipped through the Customs officers in Port Moresby.
Australian Customs officers then referred him to the Australian federal police (AFP).
However, the AFP only ordered him to fill in the cross border movement physical crossing documents and let him go to exchange the K50,000.
Mr Hui was with three other Chinese when they arrived in Port Moresby from Madang province.
Mr Hui, still on bail of K500, had been facing committal proceedings before the Waigani District Court five times since Nov 19 last year.
