THE Wosera-Gawi district is indeed
the last back page of East Sepik. Under previous administrations, nothing tangible and innovative has reached the people. They have been denied their rights to basic services and goods. The people must now get behind our new MP and give him our utmost support for the Wosera-Gawi rural electrification project that he is pursuing. The land compensation claim raised by some villagers at the edge of Maprik district is simply a desperate attempt to sabotage the project and I hope our MP will not give in to their demands. A few things need to be done: l Verify the legality of the district boundary for Maprik and Wosera-Gawi; l Verify the legal ownership of the land where land compensation is sought; l Verify if the Government owns a few metres of land along the highway; and l Verify if such compensations had been paid for the land on which power poles were planted all over the country. If the claims prove to be false or baseless, action should be taken against these people for delaying the project. People’s voice, Wewak |
