Bualu claim inaugural Situm soccer crown
By SAMPSON BONAI
BUALU United men claimed the inaugural Situm pre-season soccer title in Lae after disposing off an equally determined 8 Pool 1-0 in the grand final at the weekend.

Bualu started the competition on a high note and never looked threatened to score their only goal in the first half and defend their goal mouth strongly to wrap up the title.
Tide Up also proved too strong for rivals Ampiku to win 3-1 in the women’s grand final to become the pre-season queens of Situm soccer.
Technical director John Peka was instrumental in reviving the soccer competition at Situm after its demise three years ago.
“There is huge potential out there and I’m pleased with the interest and response and the huge turn out from the Situm community to witness the grand final last Sunday,” Peka said.
“The season proper competition will get underway on March 23 and a general committee meeting will be held on March 15 at the Situm station to complete all the administration matters,” he said.
Peka said the club affiliation fee is K100 a club and the senior players is K10 and the juniors is K5 and it must be paid to the executive during the meeting on March 15 before any draws could be drawn up.
There are two senior men’s division premier (1) and (2) men, one women and Under 13 and U15 girls and boys teams will be participating in the competition this year.
He said that have also elected an interim executive to over see the smooth running of the competition until permanent executive are elected into office.
In unrelated soccer developments, a meeting has been called for all the sports teachers for U15 Futsal competition for the U15 boys and girls in Lae schools at the PNG Sports Foundation premises in Lae.
