|
Text and photos by CLIFFORD FAIPARIK HONIARA: THE Lamana Hotel is investing at SBD$100 million (K47.4 million) on a new hotel on Solomon islands. Called the New Heritage Park Hotel nestled on the waterfront of Point Cruz in Honiara, its construction is now in full swing (see pictures). Expected to be completed in March 2009, it will have 48 standard rooms, 15 single cottage units and six high standard units. It expects to employ 100 local staff. About 160 islanders have been employed since the construction began last June. The hotel project is part of Papua New Guinea’s big business’ initiatives to invest in Solomons to create local employment and help the island country in its economic recovery. Other PNG companies operating here included Bishop Brothers, Farmset, Bank South Pacific and New Britain Palm Oil. |
