| NBC head lauds women employees | |
|
THE National Broadcasting
Commission (NBC) head has commended his female employees for their
continuous commitment and dedication in executing their daily work. Hosting a lunch this week for the women employees to mark the International Women’s Day, NBC managing director Joseph Ealedona said wherever there are women managers, one would find that their whole office complexes are very clean, neat and tidy. NBC employs 350 workers and 115 of these are women who contribute to the continuous advancement of the institution. Mr Ealedona urged them to excel as the NBC moved to its next phase of the introduction of a Government-ownednational television station to be launched on Sept 16. Another colleague, Jenny Faber, who was the occasion’s guest speaker, told the women employees that they, as women, are “in a good position to lead the change at the NBC”. “This is a great opportunity to get women’s perspectives and stories as national issues,” she said. “What are the women’s perspectives on climate change? Is it women who have to find the food and keep families together as coastal islands are eroded by rising sea levels and floods wash away their homes?” Ms Faber asked. She said it is women who have to bear the brunt of the HIV/AIDS epidemic as it spreads, and it is women’s behaviour and influence that is needed to stop it and care for the suffering. “These are the issues for a living national radio network,” Ms Faber said. |
