Trukai Industries scores with school cricket
MAJOR rice distributor Trukai Industries has come in to bat for school cricket in the NCD with a K20,000 top score sponsorship.
This contribution comes as a two part sponsorship of school cricket in Port Moresby with a further K10,000 to be added to fund a representative junior side.
Trukai Industries marketing coordinator Tony Changei expressed the company’s satisfaction to be associated with a popular sport and to contribute to its growth in the country, ėTrukai is proud to announce its sponsorship for ëKriket bilong Sumatin’.î
ėTrukai is glad to be associated with Cricket as it is a growing sport in PNG and popular worldwide.î
ėWe hope that our assistance can encourage more youngsters to take up the sport and groom world class competitors locally.î
The ėKriket bilong Sumatinî competition is an ongoing initiative by the PNG Cricket Board to develop the sport in schools in the city and hence strengthen cricket at the juniors’ level.
In receiving the cheque PNG Cricket Board treasurer Kuhaseelan Rajadurai said the PNGCB was grateful for Trukai’s help in sponsoring school cricket and that the PNGCB would also do its part to offer incentives for outstanding performances by juniors.
Building on the interest generated by recent headlines on PNG cricket teams and players performing well in overseas matches this competition is aimed at unearthing talented juniors who will one day go on to represent the country.
Rarua Dikana, current PNG team captain, and PNG Cricket development officer John Ovia will run the competition and handle all scheduling, technical advice, school liaising and logistics for matches.
