TKO win for Sam
PNG’s upcoming kickboxing champion Andy Sam has won his fight in a TKO at the weekend in Melbourne, Australia. Andy fought Michael Mitter from Sydney in the 2x3 rounds K-1 rule which allowed knees and grappling. Andy was too classy to knock his opponent out in the first round of the contest after losing his first fight on April 4 on points to Erkan Yildis of Turkey.
However, he bounced back to knock out his opponent during the Powerplay Promotion Fight night in Melbourne. Andy’s Australian trainer Bobby Gianitis said he was impressed with the outcome of the fight.

Water crisis for Moresby
PORT Moresby Rugby Football League has deferred its season proper to next week due to water problem in National Capital District. POMRFL chairman Solomon Ravu said the first round matches for A grade teams only were postponed to next week. While POMRFL cancelled their game, the neighbouring Colts Ground and Amini Park cricket facilities were hosting their semi finals of the men’s A grade cricket matches. A visit to PRL ground yesterday afternoon also saw cancellation notice put up by POMRFL groundsmen.

Momase soccer boost
BULOLO MP Sam Basil has committed K10,000 to the local organising committee towards the hosting of the Momase Regional Soccer Federation championships in Wau next week. Committee chairman Bruno Pambel said Basil’s commitment has given their morale a boost. “I’m thankful,” Pambel said. Pambel called on Morobe Governor Luther Wenge and other Morobe leaders to provide further financial support. Harmony Gold and a local business man Justin Parker have confirmed their support towards the hosting and will make their presentations to the organising committee soon. Momase region teams which include Aitape in West Sepik and Bogia in Madang provinces have expressed interest and will confirm their attendance on Friday. Other centres such as Boana, LFA, Lahi, Markham, Finschhafen and Bulolo have confirmed their participation.
