PNG still behaving like a child
THE day a mother gives birth to a child, her heart longs to hear the cry, a cry of an unpredicted future, a cry of hope, a cry of dreams.
She is relieved of the burden she has carried for nine months and would now do anything to protect her child.
She does not know what the future holds for child but would do anything to ensure that it will be a good one.
Papua New Guinea is also like a child of our great founding fathers.
After 32 years of nationhood, our resource-rich country is still facing difficulties as a result of widespread corruption.
While most of the population live in poverty and our newborn continue to die at an alarming rate, we have a few millionaires who continue to get richer through corrupt means.
Can the founding fathers of this nation tell us how that perfect day in 1975 went wrong?
How can we go back to the colonial days when everything was better?
If not, tell us how we can reach your pre-independence dreams and goals.
