New Generation out to find quality leaders

THE New Generation Party has the flavour and it is looking at qualities of a leader and not popularity.
The party’s Madang president and first choice candidate for the Madang regional seat Tony Birra said this during a fact finding mission into the remote Middle Ramu electorate to identify possible candidates of a party co-ordinator last weekend.
Mr Birra told more than 2000 people who gathered to welcome the party at Aiome station, Annaberg and Chungri villages, that it did not want leaders who were womanisers or polygamous and rapists.
He said what the party needed were possible individual candidates, who have leadership qualities to serve the people, to be endorsed for coming election.
Mr Birra said more than 80% of the population live in the rural areas without any tangible development like infrastructure and other basic services.
He said the party would also abolish the provincial government system and save more than K13 million and divert it to focus on the rural places of this country.
Mr Birra said that people should be aware that their votes should not be used as a commodity or exchanged for goods.
“Do not sell Middle Ramu or Madang for lamp flaps, tinned fish or soccer jerseys because you will still miss out on basic services on the long run,” he said.
He said they should vote for God-fearing people who have the qualities provide basic services to the rural people.
