ABG urges unity in polls

THE Autonomous Bougainville Government is now urging all Bougainvilleans to vote with their hearts and mind and to maintain unity in the forthcoming general election.
ABG president Joseph Kabui said that Bougainville autonomy required elected representatives to the National Parliament, who will represent the aspirations of the region.
He said this meant Members, who recognised ABG as the government of the people, would go to the National Parliament as servants of the people and ABG.
Mr Kabui said for Bougainville to gain self-determination, it would require unity.
“That’s why the government of Bougainville, although made up of several different factions, had put aside the past and formed a government of unity with no opposition party,” Mr Kabui said.
