Gamato heads provincial AIDS committee

THE Morobe provincial administration has taken ownership of the HIV/AIDS issue by appointing deputy administrator Patilias Gamato as the chairman of the Morobe Provincial AIDS Committee last Monday.
Morobe provincial HIV/AIDS response coordinator Charles Pepe welcomed the appointment, saying it was timely for the government to realise that HIV/AIDS was no longer a health issue but a social and developmental issue.
The new committee members will take office next month.
They are Mr Gamato (chairman), Sharon Lewis (Hornibrook NGI), Dr Songli Soctine (Angau hospital), Francis Masiang (secretary and programme coordinator – youth council) Pendek Sitong (district health – Huon), Senior Const Sare Lui (police), Renata Yayabu (public solicitor), Rodney Mukinere (PLWHA), Dr P.L. Das (Unitech), Sam Gani (Lutheran Shipping), Joshua Matiha (Coca- Cola Amatil), Jonathan Kua (Balob Teachers College), Amet Fongemale (advisor – Community Development) and Doris Buiyo (media).
