NGO group to conduct survey

STUDIES will be carried out in various areas of Papua New Guinea for non-communicable diseases for future analysis of political, economical and social development.
HOPE Worldwide PNG is a Christian non-governmental organisation which is willing to conduct a nationwide non-communicable diseases risk factor survey funded by the World Health Organisation next month.
The study is about the WHO Step Wise approach to surveillance of non-communicable diseases, the chronic non-communicable diseases are responsible for 60% of all deaths globally.
The main chronic disease attributed to the most common risk factors are heart disease, stroke, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes.
Project coordinator for HOPE Worldwide Robert Pugu is appealing to the public, especially those in selected places, to cooperate with the research team.
Some of the tests to be conducted include blood pressure and blood sugar level test to determine the health status of those involved.
In July, the team will be in the Gulf province (Malalawa district), Manus (August), Morobe/ Madang provinces (September) and Simbu province (Gumine district) in October.
