Enga pays fees for its students

By JEFFREY ELAPA
THE Enga provincial government is providing more than K100,000 in school fee subsidy for Enga students attending tertiary students in Madang province.
Governor Peter Ipatas handed four separate cheques totalling K103,150 to student leaders of Divine Word University, Madang Teachers’ College, Lutheran School of Nursing and the Madang Technical College last Saturday.
Coordinator of provincial school fee subsidy Jenny Nindil told the students to study hard and be good role models while in school to portray a good image of the province.
She said that Engan students were fortunate to have a policy that assisted parents to pay for their school fees but the onus was on them to commit themselves to achieve the highest results.
She said more than K9 million had been allocated for school fee subsidies this year.
About K2.5 million had been paid to various institutions while the remaining was yet to be paid.
She said K2,100 was paid to Madang Technical College, K4,200 to Lutheran School of Nursing, K39,850 to Madang Teachers’ College and K57,000 was paid to Divine Word University.
Each Engan student at the university will receive K1,000, teaching college students K850, technical college students K3,000 and nursing school students K600 in subsidies.
