Emotional farewell  for Air Niugini PX181

PASSENGERS on Air Niugini PX181 were treated to a special aviation culture when they were watered down as the Fokker F28 4000, P2 ANJ taxied into the Jackson International Airport.
As Capt Max Lincoln announced the plane’s final flight, passengers listened intently with a mix of emotions.
As the plane slowed down, airport fire engines greeted the plane, splashing it with water in aviation’s traditional farewell.
“I have never been on a flight like this. It is like losing a friend or someone I have known all along,” Thomas Nori, a passenger, said.
Mr Nori added the F28s had serviced the country and commended Air Niugini for its fine safety record.
Another passenger, Karo Yama, also praised the airline for the services of F28s, adding that a lot of passengers would feel the loss of something they had been closely attached with.
It was all emotions as the Air Niugini ground staff welcomed the plane, waiting until all the passengers disembarked.
The last flight was flown by First Officer Clark Piokole, who was the last to leave the aircraft.
