Woman sought to appear in Tari case

By SHEILA LASIBORI
A WOMAN is being sought by Madang police to stand before the Madang District Court with Steven Tari, better known as “Black Jesus”.
Police have already sent messages to the Matepi area in the North Ambenob district of Madang province and it is hoped the woman, known as Dorothy, will be brought to police, in time to accompany Tari and stand before the court on Friday.
This follows the district court’s orders that the woman be brought to stand with Tari on the previous four charges of hindering police from carrying out their duties, and spreading false information.
The woman was previously in the company of Tari when he was first captured and together they were brought before the same court.
But when they were allowed out on court bail, they reportedly absconded bail and had been on the run until Tari was recaptured at about 2pm last Tuesday while he was taking a nap in an empty house belonging to teachers at Matepi Primary School.
