Wara rescues 'dry' Valley

WARA Mini Lodge in Port Moresby has donated K1,000 to Gomosasipo Community Sports Tournament (GCST) at June Valley in the National Capital District.
In a brief presentation on Sunday, the Wara Mini Lodge managing director Roman Wara handed the money over to GCST president and community chairman Francis Kanasi
Wara said this was not his first time for him to support a club. In the past he had supported teams from Hohola Rugby League off-season, Morata, Waigani and even Gerehu.
Wara, a Western Highlander, said his sponsorship was aimed at helping youths of Gomosasipo community by being engaged in sports instead to getting involved in criminal and illegal activities.
Kanasi thanked Wara for his timely donation, saying this was the first time Gomosasipo Community Sports Tournament to receive some kind of help from leaders.
"The tournament has been going on for a long time but we had not received such support or donation from our community and the community is grateful for this assistance," he said.
He said there are 14 clubs in men's touch competition and another 14 in the women's soccer competition.
Last week was round nine of the competition, and after week 13 the tournament will go into the finals where the eight top teams will qualify for the knockout series to determine eventual winner.
