Learn about other nations, media told

CHINESE ambassador Wei Ruixing has called on the PNG media to continue to build and increase its understanding of other countries and learn from the experiences of the world, including China.
He said the local media must build a better understanding between PNG and China and work towards a higher appreciation of each others’ people and cultures.
Mr Ruixing said there were complexities in government systems of the world and the PNG media should work through its media council to expand its understanding of these government systems.
The Chinese envoy said this when visiting the Media Council of PNG office at Monian Haus in Boroko last week.
“There is a lot to learn from each other and the Chinese Government will continue to assist PNG journalists to achieve this through a variety of programmes that are facilitated through the Chinese embassy in Port Moresby for media attachments to China”.
Two media personnel, Geua Frank, the news team leader of FM Central, and chief editor of Wantok Niuspepa Neville Choi, have left for Beijin to attend a two-week forum under the Professional Programme for Media Professionals from Pacific Island countries organised by China Foreign Affairs University under the sponsorship of the Chinese ministry of commerce.
Another team of four university degree students, who received scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in China, have also left under an MoU on educational cooperation signed between the Chinese government and PNG.
PNG Media council president Peter Aitsi thanked the government and people of China for their continued assistance to the PNG media.
