Rain mars Moresby soccer semi finals

By HENRY MORABANG
PORT Moresby Soccer Association has deferred all its semi finals, set for yesterday, to next week due to heavy rain on Saturday night.
PMSA secretary Frank Kauri said yesterday that all the games were abandoned due to muddy condition at Bisini Soccer Oval and also for the safety of the players.
Two of the best games on Saturday were between PS Roots and newly promoted premier team B-Mobile and University and Rapatona.
The University versus Rapatona encounter was the clash of buddies. University had the upper hand winning the match 3-1.
Both fielded their best players to see who will win the starting team during the season proper.
University under John Davani had Gary Moka, Ben Lakasa, Desmond Waku, Steven Mali, Eric Willie and new buy Vincent Michael from Souths, Peter Kareva and Misty Andrew.
Rapatona on the other hand has Chique Posman, Richard Sios, Rick Mesak, Koloi Kaluwin, John Baulo and Souths import Lawrence Diau.
University scored the first goal through Gary Moka who outjumped Rapatona new goalkeeper Chokal Polume to head the ball into the net and the second goal came from a Vincent Michael header from Steven Mali's corner kick.
They led 2-0 before Chique Posman pulled on back through free-kick and then University scored the last goal to win 3-1.
Another good game was between PS Roots and B-Mobile when William Yurus junior collected the double to beat B-Mobile.
B-Mobile were first to score but Yurus equalised to take the game into extra time. About 67 seconds before the final half, Yurus collected his second goal to put Roots into the semi finals.
Kauri said all the winners will advance into the semi final which will be played on Saturday morning before the finals in the afternoon.
