Bring in mobile phone firms

I REFER to the report in The National which said that Telikom PNG was trying to delay or possibly block the entry of two mobile phone service providers as it fears that it would lose millions of kina in revenue.
The people of PNG have long suffered the cost of highly-priced goods and services because there is just one or very few vendors.
We need to allow international businesses to be established in our country to instigate competition, consequently reducing the prices of goods and services provided to the people.
I personally think the entry of the two companies will result in better telecommunication services.
Competition will bring about more choices for the users and will also likely reduce rates
The telephone is becoming an essential item and is probably the best medium of communication over distances.
Telikom should worry about the infrastructure it has set up than trying to stop competition.
It is time we move out of the old age.
