Five to study in Japan

THE government of Japan has granted scholarships to five Papua New Guineans to study in Japan this year.
Four scholarships are offered for the research course and one for the professional training course.
The recipients of the research course are Estella Cheung and Dean Foy who will study for two years while Raula Kula and Saipo Sikipris’ study programmes will take one and a half years.
Miss Cheung, a reporter with the Post-Courier will be enrolled at the Graduate School of Integrated Studies in Language and Society, Osaka University of Foreign Studies.
Mr Foy, a teacher from Wawin National High School in Lae, will be enrolled at Chao University to study both Japanese language and education.
Mr Kula, an IT specialist with Conservation International, will study Japanese at Osaka University of Foreign Studies and later enrol at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology while Mr Sikipris from the University of PNG will enrol at the Graduate School of International Management at the International University of Japan.
