Home schooling president to contest in polls

A PRIVATE education provider in the East Sepik province, Thompson Benguma will be contesting for the Yangoru Saussia seat currently held by East Sepik Governor Peter Wararu Waranaka.
Mr Benguma said his people in the Sepik plains asked him to contest the elections because past and present leaders had done little to help people living in this part of the electorate.
Mr Benguma from Haripmo village, Yangoru is the president of PNG Home Schooling in Wewak.
The people of Numbo local level government have pledged their support because they said they want a leader that has no black marks to attract unnecessary court challenges.
Mr Benguma said his win would end this dilemma as he hopes to serve the full term as the people’s leader and would work to ensure that long awaited services were received by the people.
“Economic infrastructures such as roads have deteriorated so much that the people of Yangoru Saussia cannot participate in the government’s export driven economic growth strategy and the green revolution policy,” he said.
He said as a private education provider, education would be given priority in terms of school infrastructure and capacities building to ensure school leavers become more productive so that they can contribute to the social, economic and physical development of Yangoru Saussia electorate.
