Ipatas gives school K50,000 as subsidy

ENGA Governor Peter Ipatas had presented a K50,000 cheque in school subsidy to Yalis Primary School on Wednesday in Lower Lai, Wapenanmanda district.
The latest donation brings the total money given in school fee subsidy to K75,000 for this year.
Mr Ipatas, who is also the leader of the People’s Party, told more than 1,000 people and students at the school that education of the children was very important for the province and country as a whole. He said his province was very rugged, mountainous like Simbu and the only resources they have were children.
Mr Ipatas said he recognised the importance of education for every child attending various schools and other big institutions in the country by subsidising their school fees.
Mr Ipatas said there were many bright students around but due to school fees problems they have been forced to stay at home or engage in all sorts of criminal activities in other provinces.
