Lahanis take on Hagen Eagles in a
friendly

SIR Danny Leahy rugby league ground in Goroka is set to come alive
this weekend when Bintangor Lahanis takes on Mount Hagen Eagles in
a SP Cup trial match.
Eagles will travel to Goroka following an invitation from the
Goroka rugby league, and a good number of Eagles players are
expected to be in good form after the completion of the Melpa Cup
grand final last weekend.
Most of them have played in the grand final after a successful
Melpa Cup competition, and are expected to have the upper hand in
match fitness.
Kumuls back liner Francis Ray who had an outstanding game for his
team Gomis Eagles against Hagen Paraka in the Melpa Cup grand
final will be relied on to lead the team.
Goroka Rugby League president Pat Siwi confirmed that he had
finalised the trial match preparation with his Mt. Hagen
counterpart Alphonse Pu.
Siwi said Goroka league as the host league would meet the expenses
of the visitors.
The trial match would also provide Lahanis players to identify
strengths and weaknesses and make adjustments before the real SP
Cup season kicks off next month.
Coach Peter Danga indicated during the week that he would to allow
his rookies to dominate the Lahanis side to take on the Western
Highlanders as part of their baptism of fire in preparation of the
daunting task ahead in the season.
The likely Lahanis line-up is: Anton Kui, Bonnie Walo, Minaho Goso,
George Abba, Theodore Ilailo, Walter Hasu, John Murphy and Junior
Ropra (Jones West), Nigel Hukula (Captain), Mack Siwi, Sigfred
Gande, Casey Frank, Lawrence Kuso, Garnet Auwo and Alphonse Utai
Kapil (Nowek Royals), Stanley Moliki, Dinima Kerenga, Paulus
Takubar and Jeffery Mausi (Tarangau), George Slain, Nicko Slain
and Peter Tatsim (BB United) and Jeffery Fagan (Sharks).
