Top volleyball honours for grabs

Pre-season finals fever is on this weekend as top teams vie for the major honours to determine the pre-season champions in the NCD Volleyball competition at Taurama Leisure Centre.
Eight men's and women's team are all geared up for this event that is expected to be a thriller.
In the men's, hot favourite are PNG Ports, Scorpions, Hoppers and U-Mi Yet and anyone of them is expected to be the champions. But they have to go through teams like Aranamo, Peteru, Kijo and Viriolo to earn their dream for the major finals match.
In the women's, Hoppers, U-Mi Yet, Aranamo and Viriolo are the hot contenders while Scorpions, PNG Ports, Peteru and Pom Tech will give a bold challenge.
The highlight is between defending champions Scorpions and Aranamo that is expected bring the wall down. The men from Hula are hot favourites to win the pre-season title and will let loose their venomous sting come the finals.
Deadly Loi 'Jetli' Walo, Ula Gima, Daniel 'Bomber' Guma, Vatu 'Flash' Rupa, Arnold Walo and Terry Rupa have been inform of late with good setting skills from Kila Walo have been very powerful in their attack plays and defence and opposing team should ensure to keep them out.
Their height and speed advantage in attack has been their key to their wins and Aranamo must ensure to work overtime on their defence to weakened Scorpions attack that should turn the game around in their favour.
Scorpions should not underestimate Aranamo who can rise to the occasion if given the opportunity.
The main highlights of the matches will be qualifying finals when best of four will battle it out as who should be the champions for the men.
In the women's, Aranamo are expecting to tame Scorpions after recruiting representative player Kaini Tau to the line up that adds more spice to their team. They already have the services of Clara Kila, Veiva Vela, Pate Gima, Iva Noka, Kalia Alu, Nancy, Walo and Pala Alu that gives the advantage over Scorpions.
Scorpions cannot be underestimated with the recruitment of Haoda sisters Mariana and Freda and return of Tina Numa adds more venom to their line up of Michele Gima, Dulcie Gima, Tae Vala, Kila Iamo, Tania Ravu and Emma Tokana.
Experience play is the key to both teams win and the team with patience and lesser mistake should win the game.
