The search of the heart

When you reach the core of his heart
You shall find peace, satisfaction
And longing
Even when you can't see and feel
Your heart feels
And in you mind's eye you see

Although distance and time
May separate you
Listening to him brings you closer
A thought of him keeps you warm
Until you hear from him again

Pain

So numb, so dumb
Even if spoken aloud
Who can truly comprehend its depth?
Words only mask it, the reality lies beneath
Hidden from prying, insensitive eyes
Like a volcano its effects can be devastating
Friends always at hand, caring
Yet it is yours alone to bear
At least for today
Tomorrow comes with a new assurance
Only you may choose to transit
And be a better person for it
The scar will always be there
A reminder of yesterday's dealings
And yes, that you are stronger than you think.

What was not known?

He left without a word.
A hurried kind of departure
Like not wanting your loved ones
To know and that sort of thing.

His kin merely grumbled for days.
Was it suicide? Existential escape?
At least an explanation would do.

A witness identified as the one
Closest to him by a bottle or two
Sidestepped the issue with excuses.
But the process of undoing wounds
Like a worried family left behind
Was complete, as complete
As St. Paul's love letter to the Corinthians.

He was found in an old bush hut
Along the north coast highway.
There he lay dying, alone
And not wanting the world to know.

Peace will come

Every war starts within
The stubborn hearts of men
What the heart has
It becomes our words
It becomes our deeds
There will be no peace
With hate in our hearts
To end the wars
The fires of hate
Within our hearts
Must be quenched first
If war incurs all
Then love conquers all
To overcome the world
Man must conquer
His world within
With the power of love
With a heart filled with love
True peace will come
