Pact signed for Kokopo roads, street maintenance

TREASURY Minister and Kokopo Member Sir Rabbie Namaliu believes improvement of road infrastructure greatly enhances the quality of life for the ordinary people of Papua New Guinea.
Sir Rabbie revealed this last Monday during an agreement signed between the Gazelle Restoration Authority (GRA) and PNG Sustainable Development Program (PNGSDP) for the upgrading of 19 streets and town roads in Kokopo.
PNGSDP also made a commitment of K13.2 million towards the town roads programme.
Reportedly GRA continues to be at the forefront in securing donor funding from the World Bank and now the PNGSDP for the redevelopment of Kokopo roads which is one of the fastest growing towns in the country.
“I know that my colleagues from PNGSDP would agree with me that it also represents the essence of what it is all about – achieving a better life for the people of PNG,” Sir Rabbie said.
He said a total of K322.4 million had been committed to the Medium Term Restoration programme (MRTP) as of last March 31.
Of the 116 MRTP projects planned, 65 have been completed and handed over to the ENB provincial government and administration.
