PM’s golf match off

By HENRY MORABANG
LACK of interest by corporate companies in Lae to support the Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge has prompted the PNG Sports Federation Fundraising Committee to cancel the tournament this Friday.
According to the statement from PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee yesterday afternoon, the Fundraising Committee wish to advice the public that the Corporate Golf Challenge has been postponed to July 6.
The event was originally planned for this Friday (April 13) but was deferred due to the lack of number of teams.
By Thursday last week only seven teams have confirm their participation therefore it was not viable to conduct the event which will cost around K 35, 000.00 with logistics and prizes.
According to the event budget, PNG Sports Federation need at least 25 corporate teams to make it worthwhile to conduct the event.
The Fundraising Committee have huge task to raise funds to send Team PNG to the South Pacific Games in Samoa as PNGSF and Olympic Committee rely heavily on the corporate sector through our fundraising and sponsorship.
Any companies who wish to participate in the event are asked to contact the PNG Sports Federation & Olympic Committee Inc office for details on phone 325 1411 or fax 325 1851.
