PM launches project

PRIME Minister Sir Michael Somare yesterday travelled to Kokopo, East New Britain, to launch the Illi-Wawas integrated project in Pomio district.
He was welcomed at the airport by three national leaders of the province, Minister for Public Service and Member for Gazelle Sinai Brown, Governor Leo Dion and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Member for Pomio, Paul Tiensten, a singing group, four tumbuans and senior members from the province.
He was invited by Mr Tiensten to do the honours.
The Illi-Wawas project is one of the mega agro forestry projects, under which a 135km road linking Pomio to Kokopo will be built.
