Bumper season for Pom soccer

PORT Moresby Soccer Association is expected a bumper season with massive interest when it kicks off its season proper this weekend.
With an increase of number of teams, PMSA has created a four division to cater for the number of teams.
President of PMSA Fabian Chow said the fourth division is created and also an extra Under 21 division and also another extra women's division
These divisions were created to cater for the 23 included in this year's competition.
Chow said the competition will be expanded from last year's 96 teams in nine divisions to 117 teams in 12 divisions. PMSA referees and fields will be stretched to the limit to cope with the demands.
Among new teams are Idubu Sterling, Visigo FC, POM Tech, Kumusi, A Natuna, Kaijuyawa, Musa, PNG Fire Service, PNG Education Institute, Kera Ambais, Uncle Kugas Hard Rocks, Junior Kay, ATN Skyhawks, Iarowari High School and Tarangau.
"The level of interest is sky high this year. We saw the build-up during the pre-season plus a massive crowd presence for the Charity Cup during the Easter break. People are enjoying their soccer and enjoying especially the combat of tough teams displaying their footwork skills," he said.
"Existing teams are seeing that it is all about having a tough local competition. Strong competition is what its all about. Nothing is as satisfying as beating strong opposition on ht field of battle."
