PNGDF delivers relief supplies

PAPUA New Guinea Defence Force personnel have delivered relief supplies to the two tsunami-stricken areas of Western and Choisel provinces in the Solomon Islands.
Fourteen personnel left for Honiara last Wednesday night on board the Arava Military aircraft.
They were joined by another 10 military doctors, reconnaissance personnel, and engineers who left for Honiara on the Air Niugini flight last Friday.
Around 24 PNG Defence personnel will be serving in the areas for the next two weeks.
The aircraft also airlifted two tonnes of relief supplies from Port Moresby to Honiara last Wednesday night.
Since its arrival in Honiara, the aircraft has made two trips to Gizo, airlifting relief and humanitarian supplies.
The arrival of the team will fill in the gap left by some of the foreign doctors and personnel that had been in the Solomon Islands but left a few days ago.
