Voters plegde for a clean election

MORE than 700 eligible voters from two villages in Yangoru, East Sepik province, pledged to reject bribery and call on all candidates for the Yangoru Saussia Open electorate to refrain from involving in bribery.
A non-governmental organisation representative in the East Yangoru local level government Pius Seri told The National that eligible voters in the Kiniambu and Kamatagu villages had agreed in a recent meeting that intending candidates must not use money to buy votes as such practice would blind people.
Mr Seri said such dirty politics in the past had seen Yangoru Saussia missing out on essential government services.
The voters said their votes were very powerful and that the candidate who wins the election must bring back much needed services such as roads, schools and health care to the entire electorate.
