Somare confident

PRIME Minister Sir Michael Somare expressed confidence that the National Alliance would win enough seats in the general election to form the next government.
Speaking in Pomio, when he announced Paul Tiensten as the NA candidate for Pomio Open, Sir Michael said: “I’m confident that NA will have a good number like the last election.”
He said many parties had been telling the people that they have new visions with better policies but he questioned their bases.
“Everyone wants to become prime minister, but where is their record and what have they done for PNG to tell the people about,” Sir Michael said
He said he had been in Parliament for 40 years and politics was not a new thing to him.
The four candidates would be contesting under NA’s banner in the province are Mr Tiensten (Pomio), Sinai Brown (Gazelle), Leo Dion (East New Britain regional) and Elly Ramalus (Rabaul).
Mr Tiensten was elected into Parliament on a People’s Progress Party ticket in 2002, but decided to leave for NA.
