Govt must act to cut down influx of Asians
LIKE many Papua New Guineans, I was alarmed when I read about the infiltration of Asian organised crime in our country.
With all due respect to locals with Asian descent, who have been here for years and generations, there is a new landscape taking place all over our country.
We see these aliens heading here in huge numbers.
Even in places like Tari, Kokoda, Manus or Daru, we can find them.
They are into every form of activity, whether it is legal or not.
I don’t exactly envy the jobs that Ombudsman Commission and Transparent International are facing when it comes to tackling this issue.
What are our leaders doing about it?
It seems they have become mesmerised by the colour of dirty money.
What can our public servants do?
Can an average public servant save K100,000 in 20 years?
Such “opportunities” are too good to pass up, I would think.
Unless we have a change of government or a drastic change in our government’s policy, I would suggest the only option left for us is to seriously consider “borrowing the solution” our cousins across the Solomon Sea reached a couple of years ago.
