MCL finalises kaolin sales agreements

THE Minerals Corporation Limited is finalising a number of kaolin sales agreements that are likely to become major volume users.
This follows an announcement made by the company last Tuesday regarding the steady progress on a number of sales contracts and industry supply agreements.
Managing director Vic Alexander in a statement said a substantial amount of customer product testing had been undertaken over the last 12 months, particularly with the more important larger volume users during the last six to nine months.
This, he noted had culminated in growing interest in the Skardon clays from customers in Europe, Asia and domestically.
Mr Alexander said test work had been successfully concluded mainly in the higher value polymer, crop protection and cement applications.
“We continue our testing programme for paper coating but given the indicated prospective volume increases for higher value products, this work has been given a lower priority.
“Likewise, we have decided to cease work completely on lower value high volume ceramic applications with a view to focusing on developing our preferred higher margin business,” Mr Alexander said.
The company have already received formal product approvals from over 60 larger potential volume target customers.
