Pangu Pati fields David Jack to take on Philemon for Lae Open seat

THE Pangu Pati has named a candidate to take on Bart Philemon in the race for the Lae Open seat.
He is David Jack, who, like Philemon, is a local Ahi man, a statement issued yesterday from the office of Treasurer and Pangu Pati leader Sir Rabbie Namaliu said.
The national executive of the Pangu Pati also rejected a list of candidates selected by Morobe branch president Boyamo Sali, which was published in The National yesterday.
The statement said the official candidates for seats in the Morobe province approved by the national executives were: Jerry Nalau (Morobe Regional), David Jack (Lae), Paita Towo (Finschhafen), Brian Martins (Tewae-Siassi) and Thomas Nen (Huon Gulf).
The statement said the candidates whose names appeared previously for these five electorate had not been officially endorsed by Pangu Pati.
“It is regrettable that Mr Sali has seen fit to make his announcement without the approval of the national executive,” the statement said.
