Landslip buries home

MENYAMYA district officials have confirmed the a landslip buried a home and killed a child and injured the parents, who are in stable condition at Aseki health centre.
Menyamya district administrator Buds Botikie said yesterday that if the parents required further medical treatment, they would be airlifted to Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae.
“The landslip only affected a family and not the entire community and Menyamya district is taking care of the situation on the ground,” Mr Botikie said.
Mr Botikie also appealed to motorists to be cautious or to refrain from using the road until the heavy rains have stopped.
He said Menyamya MP Tetac Geoka had allocated K200,000 from his electoral development funds for maintenance work to be carried out on the road but the continuous heavy rain had hampered work.
