Government Haus undergoes repair

THE Government Haus at Konedobu, Port Moresby is undergoing major renovations.
The building that houses the official government ceremonial block and other administrative office buildings and the governor-general’s residential area is now going through its first major facelift since the 1950s.
The Chinese government is funding the project at a cost of K500,000.
The funding will enable the Government Haus ceremonial block to be fitted with air condition, repaired and repainted.
Work should be completed before the new government is sworn in this August.
The Chinese government aid will cover workers brought from China, materials, transportation, renovation of staff offices and the construction of two new houses for the aid de camp or military police in the ceremonial office block.
