Ketauwo defends National Alliance
By CLIVE HAWIGEN
PEOPLE will not bow down to cheap politics orchestrated by narrow minded
and inexperienced politicians who anticipate to run the country as a
farm at their back yard, president of National Alliance Eastern
Highlands provincial branch Auwo Ketauwo said.
Mr Ketauwo said this on Wednesday amid widespread criticism by smaller
political parties against the ruling National Alliance Party.
He said in recent times, political parties and their leaders had voiced
strong opposition, registering their negative stance against National
Alliance Party.
He said the National Alliance-led Government’s achievement was
immeasurable.
Mr Ketauwo said it was only true and fair to say the development did not
happen overnight but took time.
He said the Government came into office when the country had K600
million in reserves but it restored the country to a respectable
position with well over K5.3 billion in reserves.
Mr Ketauwo said the K600 million funding for the maintenance of the
Highlands Highway was another significant achievement, adding that the
highway was the nerve centre and lifeline of the highlands economy.
“I acknowledge that the National Alliance Party has to be credited for
the country’s current achievement.”
However, he stated that the next government could build on this
achievement as a foundation for a better change.
He said it was only fitting that this government be retained in the
coming general election to continue for the next five years to ensure a
sustainable and positive growth indication in all aspects of development
in the country.
“This will continue to promote confidence in the foreign investors,
International Monetary Fund, European Union and other partners, creating
conducive environment for our country’s development in the long run,” Mr
Ketauwo said.
