Rock solid!

It is impossible to avoid hills when Port Moresby Road Runners line up for “The Rock and a Hard Place” runs tomorrow afternoon.
Three events start from “The Rock” on the Poreporena Highway, at the green bus shelter, on the Poreporena Highway at 5pm. The distances are 1.4km, 2.5km and 8km.
All courses head uphill to start with before doing a U-turn and plummeting down besides the freeway. The short course people turn at the Weigh Inn corner.
The 2.5km and 8km runners curl around through the tunnel before the 2.5km people turn around the first roundabout and retrace their steps home.
The 8 km diehards face plenty more crunching hills as they are not permitted to turn for home until reaching the Port Moresby Technical College.
The 8 km event is the ideal build-up for those with their sights on the longer events coming up in the Endurance Challenge. Round 3 is on April 28 at POM Grammar and Round 4 on May 6 at UPNG.
All runners and walkers are welcome tomorrow. The entry fee is 20 toea.
