Raiding unknown Eagles territory

By MUSARIKE ANANGAI
The Wari Vele Raiders head into “unknown territory” this weekend when they take on new boys Kunjin Eagles at Kagamuga, Western Highlands province, in round two of the SP Cup challenge on Sunday.
They are coming off a first round bye, and coach Richard Wagambie said yesterday that his players were psyched up and they have concentrated on what they must do to win at training instead of worrying too much about game itself.
“I would like to let our supporters know that we have trained well and have addressed our main area of concern which is discipline,” he said.
“We will give it our best shot, we mean business and we will not be there for a holiday”.
The Raiders backline is most likely to be Emmanuel Uki, Wilfred Henry, Rodney Kipa, Jared Haoda, Leroy Muriki, Joshua Nablu and Geno Ralani.
Wagambie has yet to confirm his starting forwards which will comprise Nixon Kolo, Dairi Iageti, Luke Kolalio, Andrew Norman, Philip Kumye, Kawage Gagma, Jackie Kuman and Bal Kamane.
The Brian Bell Bulldogs will play host for the second consecutive week when they take on the Pagini Warriors at the Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby.
The Bulldogs come off a gutsy 19-12 come-from-behind victory against the Muruks last week while the Warriors trounced the Bombers 30-12 in Lae.
The forward pack may see a few changes in the props and second row with last week’s man of the match Benjamin John likely to replace Andrew Mckiwa at hooker and replacement Suckling Danage may move into the starting side.
Captain Thomas Ninkama said yesterday his team needs to polish up in their defence and cut down errors on early tackles to be competitive against the Warriors.
In the other round two matches the Muruks and the Mioks will clash in Madang while the Lahanis will host the Bombers.
The Agmark Gurias of Rabaul have the bye.
Meanwhile, in the Port Moresby competition leaders Bishop Brothers Hawks will have their hands full when they take on a rejuvenated Paga side backing up from a big 30-16 win over Butterflies last week.
Second-placed Magani will take on Butterflies, Dobo v West, Brothers v Puma, while Royals will clash with Tarangau before the SP Cup fixture.
In the other matches Souths will face Waliya, while the Kone Tigers will play Defence.
