Warriors and Bulldogs should draw crowd at Lloyd Robson

By ZACHERY PER
THE clash of early leaders on the SP Cup points table - Pagini Warriors and Brian Bell Bulldogs - in Port Moresby this Sunday should draw the crowd to Lloyd Robson Oval this Sunday.
The other thriller on the draw card would be the match in Goroka between Bintangor Lahanis and Lae Building Contractors (LBC) Bombers.
Wari Vele Raiders collected two points while on bye last weekend and fly to the Western Highlands capital this weekend to take on the new kid on the block, Eagles, while Agmark Gurias would be on bye this weekend.
Reigning SP Cup premier Mabey & Johnson Muruks will host nearest rival Toyota Mioks in Madang in a bid to recover from an embarrassing loss at the hands of Bulldogs in Port Moresby last weekend.
The Southern Highlanders have a daunting task of registering points while Mioks already have a point from a draw.
Warriors got off to a flying start in the first game outclassing LBC Bombers 30-12 in Lae and are determined to terrorise Bulldogs in front of their home crowd at Lloyd Robson Oval this weekend.
Warriors as a more improved side had ironed out mistakes after trial matches in Goroka prior to round one, and further cleansing had been done from errors picked up during the round one match in Lae, according to coach Gore Kaupa.
Kaupa said he is counting on powerhouse forward Roger Kuman, Joppa Gomia (Jr), and Jonathan Jeremiah.
He said the side to take on the Bulldogs is expected to be more tuned up to come out of Kundiawa’s Dixon’s rugby league ground.
Likewise, Bulldogs coach Chris Enara will live by his words, expecting his boys to maintain the winning trend and perform better than their performance last year by winning more games.
The Doggies came from behind a six-point deficit to beat the reigning champion Muruks and will throw all it has in store to maintain its home-grown winning record.
Bulldogs can rely on last week’s man-of-the-match rake Benjamin John, Suckling Danage, skipper Thomas Ninkama and halfback Brian Apo.
Enara says he also has confidence in regulars of Roy Tela, Simon Tonge, Johnson Kuike, Larzen Marabe and Barau Barau.
