| Barracks clean-up continues | |
|
DEPUTY police commissioner and
chief of operations Geoffrey Vaki last week handed over a brand new lawn
mover, a brush cutter and paint and brushes to residents of Gordon
police barracks. He described the Gordon police barracks as “a grass land” that needs mowing. Mr Vagi also warned wives of policemen living at the barracks to abstain from selling food items, betelnut and cigarettes inside the barracks or risk having their spouses charged under the constabulary’s standing orders. Mr Vaki told the tenants to take their wares to the nearby Gordon market to sell. He said graffiti artists are defacing the building structures within the barracks and this is bringing shame and disrepute to the whole constabulary. He wasted no time in getting children of policemen to remove the graffiti. Mr Vaki commended acting assistant commissioner Awan Sete, metropolitan superintendent Fred Yakasa and their men and women for ensuring that the clean-up exercise for barracks throughout the city is maintained. He promised to buy more tools and paint and brush for the other barracks in the city and to ensure other major centres are also doing the same. |
