Mioks thrashed 22-4 in Madang

THE Mabey & Johnsons Muruks thrashed Toyota Enga Mioks 22-4 at the Ron Albert’s field in Madang yesterday.
Muruks scored four tries to Mioks one to win the one-sided affair in front of more than 2,000 disappointed spectators.
Muruks centre Mathew Puke registered their account with an unconverted try in the 20th minute.
Man-of-the-match George Moni extended that lead when he outplayed his opponents to score under the post, a try which his skipper Joseph Omae converted for the 10-0 lead which they took to the break.
Muruks, the current SP Cup holders, wanted to restore some lost pride after their first round loss to Brian Bell Bulldogs in Port Moresby a week earlier.
Three minutes into the second half, their fastest man Milfred Sova dashed 30 metres along the sideline before offloading the ball to lock Malachy Owen who scored under the post. Omai’s boots did not make any mistake, and another converted try made it 22-0.
Mioks only try came from Ereakali Kandapol.
Muruks coach Jack Kereme said that there are still weaknesses he needed to iron out before they fly to Port Moresby h is weekend for their next match.
He said that although his boys played according to simple game plans, better co-ordination and understanding each other was needed.
