Top cop lauds people of SHP

THE people of Southern Highlands have been commended by the provincial police commander Supt Simon Nigi for respecting the rule of law and upholding peace.
Supt Nigi’s comments followed a Supreme Court’s decision that re-appointed William Powi as the legitimate provincial administrator on Tuesday.
He said there were fears and threats of repercussions but soon after the court ruling, there was no trouble or disturbances reported throughout the province.
He also urged the people to continue to maintain peace throughout the election period.
Supt Nigi said people should not take things too personal by mixing politics with administration as that was when anxiety and frustration builds up.
He said politics should be left alone while the same be done with the administration for the good of the province and its prosperity.
He said people flocked into Mendi following the news of Mr Powi’s reinstatement prompting police to build barricades on the main streets.
