Airline causes chaos
THE Government has been asked to intervene in the inconsistent schedule of a third level airline that is causing inconvenience for the travelling public.
Kiriwina Goodenough MP Brian Pulayasi said the third level airline’s routes covered Kiriwina, Goodenough, Misima and Alotau.
Mr Pulayasi said the airline had been causing inconveniences for the travelling public, especially students, public servants and tourists.
“Recently, that airline has been cancelling flights and as a result, people have lost their jobs, students denied their rights to registration and tourists missing flights out of the country.”

Avengers leaves families homeless

By PETER MIVA
AT least 10 families are homeless after their houses were burnt down last week by accomplices of a suspected rapist, who was beaten to death at Kamkumung in Lae city.
Kamkumung community leader Paul Paskel on Tuesday refuted police reports which stated that only one house was burnt down by angry relatives of the deceased.
“Innocent settlers’ houses were burnt down by friends of the deceased and not the relatives.”
Mr Paskel said the community leaders had condemned the actions of those who burnt down the houses as the owners of the house had nothing to do with the killing of the suspect.
The deceased is from Okapa in the Eastern Highlands and the alleged rape victim is from Wosera in East Sepik province.

Cop jailed in Jayapura released
A WEWAK-based policeman who was serving more than three years in jail in Jayapura had been released.
East Sepik provincial police commander Chief Supt Leo Kabilo told The National yesterday that the policeman was released early this year and had re-united with his family in Wewak.
Supt Kabilo said the policeman was arrested and charged by Indonesian border officials in 2003 after he failed to produce a valid visa while on Indonesian soil.
He was arrested, charged and detained until this year, when he was released after serving his jail term.
The policeman has returned safely to Wewak and is now performing normal police duties at the Wewak police station.
