Minape Kundus to be showcased

THE cream of Lae second SP Cup team for next year, Minape Kundus, will be on display when the final of the Suburb of Origin series kicks off at James Khay Oval this weekend.
The Minape Blues will take on Minape Maroons in what could be an exciting series for the hidden talents from all suburbs of Lae City.
Following the finals, a 40 men training squad will be selected and undergo training in preparation for the 2008 SP Cup competition.
According to major sponsor Mathew Minape, the players will be on special allowance and training provided by coach and him as sponsor.
Minape said that Lae as one of the biggest leagues in the country is fielding one team, LBC Bombers, but many talented and potential players who could make big time football were left out because of only one team.
Minape said that as such he initiated the Suburbs of Origin series to allow talented players to display whether they can make the Minape Kundu team or not.
The final will be kicked off by Morobe Governor Luther Wenge who is a great support of the concept and he is expected to make some major announcement during the finals.
Minape said the pre- and post-match entertainment would be provided by Augustine Blaze Emil which should draw a good crowd at James Kay Oval.
The series have proved to be successful and have indicated that there is need for a second team from Lae City.
Minape Blues five-eighth Willie Kada and halfback Willie Joseph will repeat the same performance in the second Origin clash. Both players were crucial in bringing about this Sunday’s decider.
