Warriors victorious
Toyota Enga Mioks bogged down again

PAGINI Warriors edged out Toyota Enga Mioks 14-12 in a tough encounter played at the Ipili Sports Complex, Porgera, Enga province, on Sunday.
The Warriors scored all their points in the opening half while Mioks replied with an unconverted try.
The Simbu team hit back with three tries to lead 14-4 at half time.
In the second stanza, the Mioks dominated the first 20 minutes by scoring two tries but Simbu boys did not retreat but stood their ground to maintain the lead by two points.
Mioks had themselves to blam because two of their tries were not converted. Had they been, victory could have been theirs.
The game was played under trying condition as the ball was slippery from overnight rain.
More than 3,000 Porgera spectators packed the stadium to witness their first national rugby league game, and also see four see of their tribesmen playing in the Mioks team.
Porgera chief landowner Nixon Koeka Mangape welcomed both teams, sponsors and officials, saying that the Ipili Sports Complex had an international size football field and wanted more game to be staged there.
Mangape also thanked the Toyota Mioks management team for selecting Porgera as the venue for such big game.
He asked the people to support rugby league as well as other sports in the valley because it was brining in more money.
Mioks team manager Eddie Mullar said all the home games for Toyota Mioks this year will be played in Porgera as Aipos playing ground in Wabag was undergoing maintenance work.
Among the spectators at the weekend match were Ela Motors PNG operations manager Don Fox and Ela Motors branch manager Jerry Tiso.
Two Porgera teams, East and West, played the curtain raiser which East won, prevailing over Wests 16-14.
