Dual murder hits remote Laka village
By JAMES APA GUMUNO
TWO young men were murdered on Tuesday afternoon at Laka village in the Baiyer district, Western Highlands province.

According to provincial police commander Chief Supt Thomas Eluh, the first victim was chopped to death while the other was shot in revenge.
Mr Eluh said Jason Lakapua, 21, from Makin tribe, was standing at the market place in Laka village when a man, armed with an axe, came up behind him and chopped him to death.
The elder brother of the victim took revenge by shooting to death Ekep Pal, elder brother of the suspect. The double murder occurred between 4pm and 5pm.
Mr Eluh said police were investigating the killings.
Meanwhile, Mr Eluh said police were also investigating the death of two women at Togoba village last Thursday.
The two women were tortured and burnt to death after they were accused of killing a young man through sorcery.
Mr Eluh said police went several times to the village to gather information but the clansmen, relatives and family members were reluctant to provide information.
He appealed to the community leaders to come out and help the police to arrest the offenders and bring them to justice.
Mr Eluh said police would treat information provided to them confidentially and would not expose the sources.
