The dead man’s brother Mathew Soni testified in court that during the fight outside the Mutzing police station at about 8.30am, one of the accused hit his brother on the neck with a stone wrapped in a piece of cloth. He told the court that the fight was a result of an argument between his family and Pius Kipu’s relatives the previous day. Soni told the court that on Sunday, Jan 29, there was an argument between women from the two groups at the market which the men were involved and Pius Kipu was assaulted by Soni’s group. The next morning, the police picked up Soni and his group to go the Mutzing police station. As soon as Soni and his relatives arrived, Kipu and his group, who were already there attacked them resulting in Soni’s death. |
